Who is responsible
The controller for the processing described here is Clarity Finance Studio AG, Rietstrasse 17, 8307 Effretikon, Switzerland.
Questions about your data go to Oliver Scherrer, by the contact form or on +41 44 798 55 85. He answers them himself. We have not appointed a separate data protection officer.
The short version
- This website sets no cookies of its own, and runs no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising.
- The fonts are served from this domain, so opening a page sends no request to a font provider or any other content network.
- The only personal data this website gives us is what you type into the contact form or into the booking calendar, plus the technical request data that every web server records.
- We do not sell, rent, trade or publish personal data, and we do not profile you.
- No client project data is on this website. Client work runs in systems that cannot be reached from here.
What is processed, and why
When you open a page. Our hosting provider records the request: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page asked for, the response code, the page you came from if any, and the browser's user agent string. Every web server records this and it is what makes the site deliverable, available and defensible against abuse. We do not use it to identify you, we do not combine it with anything else, and how long it is kept is set by the provider rather than by us.
When you use the contact form. It asks for your name, your company if you choose to give it, your email address and your message. That is sent as a single email to the studio mailbox. It is not written to a database, there is no ticketing system behind it, and nothing about it is stored on the website itself. We use it to answer you, and for whatever follows if we end up working together.
When you book a call. The booking page is Google's appointment schedule, loaded from Google. When you book, Google asks for your name and your email address and puts the booking into our calendar. Google processes that booking on its own account as well, under its own privacy policy, and its page can set its own cookies in your browser. You only meet it if you open a booking page: no other page on this site loads anything from Google.
When you write or ring us directly. We keep the correspondence, because that is what answering it and picking the thread up later requires.
The legal ground. Under Swiss data protection law we process this on our legitimate interest in running the website and answering the people who write to us, and, for the form and the calendar, because you sent it to us in order to get an answer. If you are in the European Union and the GDPR applies to you, the corresponding grounds are Article 6(1)(f) and Article 6(1)(b).
Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own. No analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, no preference cookie, and nothing here needs one in order to work.
The one exception is the booking page. It loads Google's appointment schedule, and Google can set its own cookies while you are using it. You meet that only if you open a booking page: no other page on this site loads anything from Google.
You can refuse this at any time by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser, and every page of this website still works if you do. Because the site runs no tracking and sets nothing of its own, it asks you to approve nothing: Swiss telecommunications law requires that you are told what is processed on your device and that you may refuse it, which is what this section is.
Who else receives your data
- Netlify, Inc., United States. Hosts this website and runs the small function that sends the contact form. Every page you open is delivered from its network.
- Vercel Inc., United States. Hosts the two working demonstrations this site links to and embeds. You reach Vercel only if you open one of them.
- Google. Our mailbox runs on Google Workspace, so a message from the contact form arrives there. The booking pages embed Google's appointment schedule.
- Loom, a product of Atlassian. The FounderFinance page offers a recorded walkthrough. It is shown as a still picture served from this site, and nothing at all is requested from Loom until you press play. Once you do, Loom delivers the video and can see that it was watched. Atlassian names Atlassian Pty Ltd, in Australia, and Atlassian, Inc., in the United States, as the controllers of what it collects.
That is the complete list. There is no analytics provider, no customer database, no advertising network, no newsletter tool and no chat widget behind this website. The footer links to Oliver's LinkedIn profile, and that is an ordinary link: nothing loads from LinkedIn until you click it, and once you have, you are on LinkedIn and their terms apply.
Arriving on a page of this website reaches the first of those four and nobody else. The other three are things you choose: opening a demonstration, opening a booking page, pressing play on the video. That is deliberate, and it is the reason the demonstration and the video are offered as pictures rather than loaded into every visit.
These are companies in the United States, and one of them names an Australian entity alongside its American one, so personal data can be processed in both places. That transfer is covered by the data processing terms that form part of our contract with each of them.
If where your data is served from matters to you, say so before we work together and you will get a straight answer about where each part of your own project would run. This is a marketing website, and it is not where client work happens.
How long it is kept
- Server request data: for the period the hosting provider sets.
- Messages and correspondence: for as long as the enquiry, and any relationship that comes out of it, need them. Then they are deleted.
- Bookings: in the calendar, and removed in the ordinary course once they are past or cancelled.
- Where the law requires it: business records that accounting law makes us keep are kept for ten years, as Swiss law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to us processing it, ask for it in a portable form, and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to Oliver through the contact form and say what you want. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
We may have to ask for something that shows the request is really yours. That is not obstruction: handing your data to somebody who says they are you would be the worse failure.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Bern. If the GDPR applies to you, you can complain to the supervisory authority where you live.
Security, and what this site is
The site is served over HTTPS only. A message from the contact form travels to the mailbox over an authenticated, encrypted connection. The website itself is a set of static files with no database, no login and no administration area behind it, so it holds nothing about you to lose.
There is no automated decision-making and no profiling here. Nothing on this website decides anything about you, and nothing scores or ranks you.
This website is meant for companies. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes to this policy
When the site changes, this page changes with it. The date below is when it was last changed. The company details are in the legal notice.
